New EU Directive recommends Hazard Perception testing and training for all member states.

Jellylearn is excited to announce that a new Directive to be published this Autumn includes hazard perception and training for the very first time. Jellylearn has been working with the EFA, the International Federation for Driving Schools, to support the EU with the drafting of the new Directive.

The key aspects of the Directive that relate specifically to Hazard Perception are:

  • That the Theory Test should include hazard perception as a minimum
  • Driving risk factors related to various road conditions, including perception and anticipation of hazards, in particular as they change with the weather and the time of day or night;
  • Hazard perception and accident avoidance; this includes understanding and paying attention to the vulnerability of non-motorised road users and users of motorised two-wheelers.

As the global leader for the development of high-quality, evidence-based hazard perception training and testing content, this recommendation will help support EU member states to achieve their goal of halving road deaths and serious injury by 2030.
